Lupita Nyong’o, I Love You!

In a J. Mendel dress, jewels by Carl A. Amorim and Lanvin

Lupita Nyong’o can do no wrong, she is FABULOUS.

Apart from being incredibly talented I love her because she is just so unique.  She’s bold, elegant, intelligent…the superlatives are endless and she is pure class.  A star was truly born this Awards season; and I can’t wait to see how her career progresses beyond this point.

Now let’s get down to the fashion…On the red carpet this year she stood out like a flamingo around swans.  She never took a fashion misstep; from colour to cut to drape she chose the perfect gowns for each red carpet event.  I couldn’t wait to see what she wore for this year’s Academy Awards, and then she stepped out in this…

Lupita’s custom Prada Couture

Just take that in for a second.

This was per-fection.  It’s Prada Couture and she had a hand in designing it.  It was inspired by champagne, which explains the “bubbly” sequin pattern along the skirt and it was the “it” colour Nairobi Blue.  Whenever they panned the crowd during the Oscars I saw this dress glittering in it’s understated elegance.  I’m sure on broadcasts around the world all eyes instantly went to her; it was her coming out night and she gave it her all.

And then like any Cinderella story should end, she got herself a prince…or in her case she got an Oscar.

She gave the best acceptance speech I’ve heard in years-there wasn’t a dry eye in the room when it was over.  I loved how after her win she spent the night clutching her Oscar like she couldn’t believe she’d won it.

Girl, you deserved it.

Now that Awards season is over, its time to get on with our lives, turn off  E! and get off the couch.  Lupita is going onto her next big project, but we’ll be keeping an eye out for her and her future incredible fashion choices.

Now before we go, let’s just take a last look at that beautiful Prada dress.

In *that* dress…sigh

P.S. She’s half Mexican…… we’re practically related!!
