The 22nd Annual Screen Actors Guild Awards took place on January 30th 2016 at the Shrine Auditorium in Los Angeles, California. The ceremony honours the most outstanding achievements in film and television for the year, as judged by members of the Screen Actors Guild of America. It’s one of the final major award ceremonies before the Academy Awards (which is later this month) and as such, it’s considered by attendees as something of a dress rehearsal for the main event.

The Screen Actor’s Guild Awards always boasts an impressive guest list of stars and is seen as one of the swankiest events on the Awards Season schedule. Therefore, most of the stars turn up turned out to the nines! THIS is one of the red carpets on which to find some truly spectacular Red Carpet looks.

This year’s carpet hosted some truly beautiful ensembles, and there were others that stood out for good reason. Here are my pics for the best looks of the night!

Rachel McAdams

Rachel McAdam was lovely in this sheer Elie Saab Haute Couture gown with a full ball skirt, Brian Atwood pumps and diamonds by Harry Kotlar and Le Vian. The sheer gown has become pretty much a basic red carpet look, but this is an example of the trend done right. The key to success is lining. It makes all the difference between looking interesting and looking like a mess. Image GETTY IMAGES/POPSUGAR

Laura Prepon

I love how incredibly polished Laura Prepon looked in this Carmen Marc Valvo gown with Stephen Webster accessories and Forevermark diamonds. Very ladylike and pretty! Image GETTY IMAGES

Viola Davis

Everything about Viola Davis’ look was great! The cut and colour of this Zac Posen gown were incredibly flattering, even with the highly structural necklace and bodice, her styling and her simple Bucaletti jewelry only enhanced the effortlessly glamorous feeling of the overall look. Beautifully done! Image REX

Helen Mirren

Helen Mirren is seventy. Let that sink in as you admire how flawlessly she pulls off this sparkling, sequin and crystal-encrusted Jenny Packham gown and some equally glittery Chopard jewelry. She looks absolutely stunning! Image GETTY IMAGES

Sophie Turner

Sophie Turner looked phenomenal in this textured silk Carolina Herrera gown, Jimmy Choo shoes and Chanel Haute Joaillerie diamonds. Image GETTY IMAGES/POPSUGAR

Maisie Williams

Maisie Williams looked gorgeous in this bright blue tea -length Ermanno Scervino gown. She completed her look with glittery Nicholas Kirkwood shoes, a Jimmy Choo clutch and jewelry by Rugembon and Buja Fine Jewellery. Image GETTY IMAGES

Laverne Cox

The definition of WERQ: Laverne Cox in Prabal Gurung. I’m not a huge fan of the gown, but she looks incredible and that shade of burgundy is gorgeous on her. She completed her look with strappy Stuart Weitzman sandals, a Nathalie Trad clutch and Lorraine Schwartz jewelry. Image THE INDEPENDANT/POPSUGAR/GETTY IMAGES

Jessica Paré

Jessica Paré kept things simple but stunning in a gorgeous Kaufmanfranco gown, Jimmy Choo heels and Tiffany & Co. jewelry. Slick hair and simple makeup complete the look perfectly. Image POPSUGAR/GETTY IMAGES

Alicia Vikander

Alicia Vikander’s head- to- toe Louis Vuitton look was intriguing. On almost anyone else I’d not like it, but a patchwork pattern gown fits her quirky dress sense and she looks great in it. Image GETTY IMAGES

Carol Burnett

You can spot a Bob Mackie design from a mile away. Carol Burnett was one of the designer’s notable clients, wearing his pieces both on and off screen. As the recipient of this year’s Lifetime Achievement Award, it’s fitting that she wore a designer who was present at many points throughout her career. Design wise, her outfit is perfectly fitted, stylish, photogenic, and it would appear, comfortable. I can’t critique anything about it, and that colour looks fantastic on her. Image GETTY IMAGES

Anna Faris

Anna Faris looked incredible in this satin Naeem Khan gown, Stuart Weitzman heels, Tyler Alexandro Roland clutch and Norman Silverman jewels. STYLE BISTRO/GETTY IMAGES

Rooney Mara

I liked Rooney Mara’s Valentino Haute Couture gown both with and without the cape. It’s such a simple look that she could easily play with bolder accessories or beauty trends, but since she opted only for some diamond Fred Leighton rings, a slick bun and natural makeup, it came off quite severe. Lily Rabe

The print and colour of Lily Rabe’s Lela Rose gown came off a little casual for the event but her accessories, Stuart Weitzman shoes, a Lee Savage clutch and Lorraine Schwartz jewels, saved her from looking under dressed. Image POPSUGAR/GETTY IMAGES

Kristen Wiig

I like that Kristen Wiig opted for trousers for the event and this embellished Roland Mouret jumpsuit fits her quirky personality. She looks fab! Miu Miu sandals, a metallic Jimmy Choo bag and Niwaka Collections diamond jewelry completed the look. Image GETTY IMAGES

Carrie Brownstien

Carrie Brownstien was simple and elegant in a textured silver Akris dress, Jimmy Choo shoes and Jennifer Meyer jewelry. Image GETTY IMAGES

Emilia Clarke

Emilia Clarke was a vision in hot pink in head- to- toe Dior Haute Couture. Image GETTY IMAGES

Kiernan Shipka

Kiernan Shipka was lovely in an Erdem gown, Charlotte Olympia shoes and jewelry by Irene Neuworth and Dana Rebecca. Image GETTY IMAGES/POPSUGAR

Christina Ricci

There was a hint of an ice-skating costume around the bodice of Christina Ricci’s Christopher Kane gown, but it’s so pretty that I can overlook that detail. Her jewelry is flawless- it’s vintage Fred Leighton. Image GETTY IMAGES

Amanda Peet

Amanda Peet was stunning in this Narciso Rodriguez gown, Gianvito Rossi shoes and Marc Jacobs jewelry. I love this look! Image GETTY IMAGES/STYLE BISTRO

Elizabeth Rodriguez

Elizabeth Rodriguez exuded Old Hollywood glamour in this John Paul Ataker gown and Forevermark jewels. Image GETTY IMAGES

Sophie McShera

Sophie McShera looked lovely in this Escada gown, LK Bennett shoes and Stephen Webster jewelry. Pink was the hot colour of this show, and Sophie’s gown was the prettiest one on the Red Carpet. Image GETTY IMAGES

Marisa Tomei

I found Marisa Tomei’s embellished Zuhair Murad gown to be a little heavy for her frame, but there’s no denying that she looks gorgeous. Christian Louboutin accessories and jewels by Sethi Couture and Beladora Jewelry rounded out her look beautifully. Image GETTY IMAGES/POPSUGER

Brie Larson

Brie Larson is perhaps the only woman other than Rosie, Candice or Doutzen who can wear this Atelier Versace gown and make it look good. It fits her figure perfectly and manages to be incredibly flattering on her, despite the bulky ruching and the odd cutout. Brie smartly left the accessories and styling simple with metallic Roger Vivier sandals, dainty Tiffany & Co. jewels and natural makeup. Image GETTY IMAGES

Diane Lane

Diane Lane looked like a modern goddess in this deep blue Angel Sanchez gown, LK Bennet heels, a metallic Harry Kotlar clutch and Vhernier jewelry. Love the colour! Image GETTY IMAGES/STYLE BISTRO

Emily Robinson

Emily Robinson’s flounced Antinio Grimaldi gown was one of the highlights on the Red Carpet. It reminds me of vintage Balenciaga, and was perfectly styled with Jerome Crousseau shoes, a Farod Barsum clutch and H. Stern jewels. Image POPSUGAR/STYLE BISTRO/GETTY IMAGES

Ariel Winter

There’s no denying that Ariel Winter looked gorgeous in this form- fitting Romona Keveza gown, but a neckline like that called for more jewelry than a small pair of Atelier Swarovski earrings. Image GETTY IMAGES

Samira Wiley

Samira Wiley kept things simple in this gorgeous Christian Siriano gown, Renè Caovilla shoes and emerald jewelry by Ippolitta. It’s a clean, glamourous look and she looks amazing! Image GETTY IMAGES

Christina Hendricks

Another stuner who wore Christian Siriano to this event was Christina Hendricks, who went all out with the Marilyn Monroe-esque dressing and opted for a highly sculptural vintage- inspired design. It’s testament to Mr. Siriano’s abilities as a designer to be able to construct this gown entirely out of reflective lace- patterned lamé and make it not look heavy, ungainly, or overworked. Though a hard look for anyone to pull off, it’s right up Ms. Hendrick’s alley and she looks great in it. Simple jewelry by Butani and Coomis Jewelry rounded out the look. Image GETTY IMAGES
