The May issue of Vogue Russia is out and in it there’s something fierce! A stunning ‘Old Masters’- styled editorial entitled Angelic Couture shot by Mariano Vivianco and starring Nastya Sten, Odette Pavlova, Anka Kuryndina and Sanne Vloet, the feature explores the purity and angelic lightness that was present in many couture collections of Spring 2016.
Wearing gauzy gowns, rippling hairstyles, feathered headpieces and huge white wings, the models looked very much like modern renditions of Tiempolo’s angels as they posed before backgrounds covered with painted clouds. It’s a gorgeous editorial and a lovely take on the definitely overworked theme of “dramatic haute couture editorial”. Every image perfectly captured the ethereal airiness of the garments (despite some them being made of heavy silk or covered in dense ornamentation) and elevated each complete look to a higher level. Everything- from embellished minidresses and feathered skirts, to silk shirtdresses, slim sheafs and airy maxis- seemed as light as air and entirely beautiful.
What a gorgeous spread!
