Piccione’s Fall 2016 show was one of the last events on Milan’s Fashion Week schedule, taking place on the final day of shows, and this offering proved to be the sweetest way to wind down a week of high-impact fashion. For Fall 2016, designer Salvatore Piccione focused on the girlier side of dressing, with a collection that was filled to the brim with romance.
Named Amor vincit omnia (Love Conquers All), the collection is an ode to romance in every form, with the designer telling a story of love through the eyes of a central heroine. Using his designs to directly illustrate his tale in a profusion of bright colours, ultra- feminine silhouettes and layers of vivid ornamentation, it was a perfectly executed offering.
The opening sequence was covered in motifs resembling the drawings and paintings of children with whimsical hearts, balloons and flowers giving sweetness to vividly coloured outerwear and trim separates. Ruffled silk shirtdresses and blouses were beautiful, as were colour- blocked frock coats and double- breasted tweed jackets covered with sparkling embroidered hearts.
An artsy splattered-paint floral print that appeared all over a series of black and white separates added sophistication to the lineup, while a series of looks in sheer vermilion silk added some lust. Unadorned solid coloured knits gave a certain maturity to the lineup, while fuzzy Mongolian- fur jackets added a quirky lilt to an already whimsical collection.
Piccione.Piccione’s Fall 2016 offering was a great mix of sophistication and girlish charm, and it’s a collection that’s full of gorgeously wearable pieces. There is something for everyone to be found within the lineup, especially since mix-and-match- ready separates and outerwear make up the bulk of the collection. Lovers of bright, ultra-feminine designs will immediately be drawn to the selection of dreamy, hyper decorative looks covered with glistening embroidery and 3D printed lace, while knitted Lurex tops and plissé skirts in darker shades cater to those with more subdued tastes.
There were some definite standouts; floor- length gowns and ruffled dresses covered with appliquéd poppies and lace were glamorously perfect. also, while all those furry jackets and stoles provided an edgy alternative to traditional outerwear, they’re the perfect thing for those with a more avant- garde approach to dressing.
A solid array of accessories rounded out the collection perfectly, with a beautiful selection of ankle laced ballet pumps covered in bright appliqués and crystals, cute mini-shoulder bags, glittering statement jewelry and elaborate detachable cuffs and collars in ruffled lace and silk. They’re the perfect things to jazz up any outfit and are sure to be welcome additions to anyone’s accessory collection.
All in all Piccione.Piccione’s Fall 2016 offering was a lovely show, and a perfect ending to Milan’s Fall 2016 season.
