The second major awards ceremony on Hollywood’s schedule, the 23rd annual Screen Actors Guild (SAG) Awards was held on 29 January at the Shrine Auditorium in Los Angeles, California. Again there was some great fashion on display as the stars turned up their glam for the red carpet. Here are my favourite looks of the night.

Michelle Dockery- Elie Saab gown, Amanda Pearl bag, Jimmy Choo heels, Niwaka Collections Jewelry

LOVE THIS! It's bright, it's bold, and it's a breath of fresh air on the red carpet, as well as in her style portfolio. I particularly like the asymmetric quality of the stripes, where line thicknesses and colours don't line up on the bodice and skirt. It keeps the pattern interesting while breaking it's resemblance to a circus tent. I'm not the biggest fan of her hair and makeup, but she looks beautiful and this is her personal best Red Carpet look. Image GETTYIMAGES/TOMANDLORENZO.COM

Nicole Kidman- Gucci gown, Kotur clutch, Stuart Weitzman heels, Fred Leighton jewelry, Omega watch

I don't understand all the hate this gown is getting- this is downright fab! Perfect gown aside, it looks phenomenal on Ms. Kidman, who has the style, body, height and bearing to work this gown for all it's worth. This is how you do whimsy with panache: the macaw-head sleeves are amazing, her styling is perfection and that colour is gorgeous on her. Other stars should take note. Teresa Palmer- Valentino gown, Jimmy Choo clutch, Stefere jewelry

This was one of my favourite looks from Valentino's Spring 2017 collection and I loved seeing it on the Red Carpet. The embellishments sparkled like crazy! Ms. Palmer looks gorgeous, and her styling and free flowing locks set the gown off perfectly. Image WIREIMAGE/POPSUGAR.COM

Ellie Kemper- Wai Ming gown, Judith Leiber clutch, Giuseppe Zanotti shoes, Forevermark jewelry

The oddly slumping shoulder on this gown bothered me... I kept expecting it to slip down. But, this a simple, pretty look. Image VOGUE.COM

Maggi Siff- Zac Posen gown, Butani jewels

I'm not a fan of the pointy, overworked neckline, but this is a nice twist on the simple black mermaid gown. She looks great. Image POPSUGAR.COM

Evan Rachael Wood- custom Altuzarra suit, Judth Leiber Couture clutch, Salvatore Ferragamo heels, Tiffany & Co. jewelry

Emily Blunt- Roberto Cavalli Couture, Lorraine Schwartz jewelry

I really like this gown- I love the crocheted detailing, and the netted corset lacing on the cutout under the bustline, but I think it would have been more stunning had the base fabric been a rich colour like turquoise blue, emerald green or even a deep rose. Ms. Blunt looks stunning regardless, but a contrasting colour would have pushed this gown above and beyond fabulous. Image POPSUGAR.COM/VOGUE.COM

Kirsten Dunst- Christian Dior gown, Fred Leighton jewelry

Again, I really wish she'd worn her hair up- those diamonds need to be seen and appreciated! Her gown is pretty, if basic for an award ceremony, but I like it... despite those sheer rhinestone encrusted brand name straps. Image POPSUGAR.COM

Janelle Monáe- Chanel Métiers d’Art 2017 dress, Roger Vivier clutch, Stuart Weitzman heels, Chanel Fine jewelry

Only quirky and fabulous Janelle Monáe could pull this look off this well. She looks great. Image VOGUE.COM/WIREIMAGES However, those wristlets should be burnt.

Ms. Monáe wore a plethora of Chanel diamond and pearl fine jewelry, but my favourite piece is the grey and silver pearl and diamond 'toi et moi' ring she wore on her left hand (the constellation ring she wore on her right hand is my second choice, then the diamond feather, then the pearl and diamond camellia flower). Annalise Basso- custom Bibhu Mohapatra gown, Edie Parker bag, Amrapali jewelry

This gown has also gotten lot's of hate over it's trailing sleeves, but this is a fabulous look. The colour, cut and drape are phenomenal on her, and really- who wouldn't play with those gauzy, fabulous sleeves? Image VOGUE.COM/POPSUGAR.COM

Natalia Dyer- custom Miu Miu gown, Nicholas Kirkwood heels, Jacob & Co. jewelry
[caption width="3024" align="alignnone"]I really wasn't into this gown until I got a better look at that neckline- look at the details on those flowers! What a gorgeous bit of ornamentation, and really elevated the look of this simple gown into something really unique. I'm not entirely behind the trend of wearing red and pink together, but this gown gets a pass. Melissa Rauch- Luisa Beccaria gown, Tyler Ellis bag, Stuart Weitzman heels, Seffy jewelry

She's very petite, and this gown does justice to her figure without swamping her in fabric. The colour is a little too on-tone with her skintone for me to downright love it (imagine it in a metallic gold, bronze or electric blue), but it's a pretty look and she looks great. Image POPSUGAR.COM

Estevan and I had differing opinions on this gown: he liked the cascading cape shoulders and neckline but hated the train, while I loved the train and the shoulders but disliked the neckline. We've agreed that it's an overall good look, but could have benefited greatly from some editing during the design process. Image POPSUGAR.COM

Laura Carmicheal- Christopher Kane gown, Neil Lane jewelry

Very simple, but very pretty, and on trend with the 90's style slipdresses that we've been seeing everywhere. She looks good, but her look could have benefited from an updo and some good jewelry. Image VOGUE.COM Sidenote: I'm pretty certain my sister wore a gown almost exactly like this (but in red) to her high school graduation in 1998. What comes around goes around...

The Golden Globe Awards is the first major awards ceremony of Hollywood’s annual Awards season and is really the most entertaining of the group. With this year’s Golden Globe’s over, we have the Screen Actor’s Guild Awards, the BAFTAs (not actual Hollywood, but it counts) and the Academy Awards to look forward to. With so many events following in swift succession, the stars are kicking their fashion games into high gear, and this year, many have started early!

The 74th annual Golden Globe Awards took place on January 8th at The Beverly Hilton in Beverly Hills, California, and there was some seriously fab fashion on show. Many of the stars showed up looking their best, but here are my favourite looks of the night!

Evan Rachel Wood- custom Altuzarra suit, Neil Lane jewelry, Judith Leiber bag, Jimmy Choo heels

My favourite look of the night! I'm always happy to see starlets show up in a suit and this is one of the best examples I've seen. Everything about this look is perfect- from the suit's expert tailoring, to the styling, MUA and accessories.

Ruth Negga- custom Louis Vuitton gown, Fred Leighton & Gemfields jewelry

This futuristic gown is one of the best things I've seen coming out of the Louis Vuitton ateliers in a long while, and it suited her perfectly. It's the dress of a scifi-goddess and Ruth has both the personality and bearing to work this type of look. Her styling was incredible too- the hair and makeup is Old Hollywood glamourous and the jewelry is eye-catching enough to be interesting without distracting from the gown.

Claire Foy- custom Erdem gown, Fred Leighton jewelry

I didn't like this gown when I first saw it on the red carpet since it seemed to wash out Ms. Foy's colouring under all the harsh camera lights. Then there's that sash... but it grew on me the more I saw it. It was love once I saw it on stage though. It's an interesting, eye catching, glamourous gown, and one that's perfectly suited for a lady portraying a young Queen Elizabeth. The sleeves and the colour make it a hard look for most women to pull off, but Ms. Foy looked absolutely gorgeous.

Zoe Saldana- custom Gucci gown, Bulgari jewelry

This is perhaps one of the best Gucci gowns I've seen in a while and I'm happy that I'm first seeing it on Ms. Saldana. It's such a hard style and colour to pull off that only someone with her unique style personality, beautiful colouring and bearing could ever do it justice. She looks like a chic bohemian princess in a gown that could so easily make a lesser actress look like a sad pile of frumpy chiffon. Image GETTY IMAGES/VOGUE.COM

A better look at her platinum and white diamond earrings and necklace. I don't like the trend of wearing necklaces back to front, but this was an exception, all the drama at the front of the gown (the flame effect rose higher at the front) would have distracted from the beautiful rivière style necklace- worn this way, it's much easier to admire. Winona Ryder- custom Victor & Rolf gown

I can't critique Winona Ryder's look because it fits so well with her personality. This is the essential gothic princess gown, and it looked so good on her because it fits that dark, quirky look that she constantly wears. Had this been any other actress, it probably would have come off as frumpy and awkward. Image TOMANDLORENZO.COM

Sofía Vergara- Zuhair Murad Haute Couture gown, Lorraine Schwartz jewelry

I don't like sparkly flesh coloured gowns and I deplore 'cold shoulder' type sleeves, but I'm making an exception because it's such a departure from Ms. Vergara's usual red carpet fare. She looks great! I'm glad she chose slicker styling to tone the whole look down. Image VOGUE.COM

Sidewalk Saunter- Film Festival Edition.

These definitely aren’t sidewalks, but a lot of sauntering is going on. From August 31st to September 10th 2016, at the beautiful Lido di Venezia, the 73rd Venice International Film Festival is the highlight of the entertainment world. Organized by La Biennale di Venezia, the Venice Film Festival is the just as white tie- but slightly older, Italian equivalent of the famous Festival de Cannes that’s held in May at the seaside French Riviera town. Some of the world’s most gifted film makers, directors, actors, designers and models have gathered at The Floating City for the event, and they’ve definitely dressed for the occasion.

Whenever stars, media coverage of the highest level and warm European resort spots converge, the fashion is generally top notch. So far, the Venice Film Festival attendees haven’t disappointed, and from the city’s famous canals to the streets, red carpets and parties, the stars are heightening their style game with great looks. Some, like Aaron Taylor-Johnson, Jake Gyllenhaal and Barbara Palvin rocked multiple great looks that are on this list, but there’s been a wealth of style inspiration going on- and the festival still runs for some days! Let’s highlight a few standouts.

Cannes 2016: amfAR Gala

The American Foundation for AIDS Research (amfAR) Logo

amfAR, The Foundation for AIDS Research, is an international nonprofit organization dedicated to the support of AIDS research, HIV prevention, treatment, education and the advocacy of AIDS-related policies. For the past 23 years, amFAR has held an annual fundraising event in conjunction with the Cannes Film Festival and it has grown into one of the most anticipated and glamorous events on the Festival’s roster, attracting the crème de la crème of international film, fashion, art and society to support and raise awareness for AIDS research.

This year’s event may have featured performances by Katy Perry, The Village People, Sister Sledge, and The Bluebell Girls, but it’s undisputed highlight was a live auction of the exclusive “Disco Collection”, fashion which raised over $25 million for amfAR’s cause. How great!

Along with the gorgeous auctioned fashion, attendees show up and show out in some of the most fabulous formal wear that’s the de rigueur dress code for one of the year’s most glamorous events. amfAR always serves up some great red carpet fare (or should I say ‘white carpet’) and this year’s affair was no exception!

Here are some of the best looks of the night.

Images via GETTY IMAGES/APC/POPSUGAR/TOM AND LORENZO

Isabeli Fontana

My favourite look of the night! Isabeli Fontana shone in a sexy Alexandre Vauthier Haute Couture gown, Guiseppi Zanotti heels and gorgeous Harry Winston jewels.

Kasia Struss

Kasia Stuss stunned in this sheer Zuhair Murad number.

Daria Strokous

Daria Strokus’ Maison IRFĒ gown was a welcome pop of colour to a very monochrome carpet, she looked great!

Helen Mirren

Helen Mirren has really been stepping up her already good fashion game, and this custom Temperly London gown was a great choice. Jimmy Choo pumps and bold Harry Winston jewels finished her look perfectly.

Jacqueline Jablonski

I love the simplicity of Jacqueline Jablonski’s look, her plain white Jason Wu gown paired with sleek hair and makeup were striking.

Alessandra Ambrosio

Alessandra Ambrosio, goegeous in a glimmering Redemption gown, Jimmy Choo heels and Boucheron jewels.

For the event she wore part of Boucheron’s gorgeous Pampille de diamants parure, a necklace and ring in white gold, diamonds and rock cristal set with 18,58 and 11,07 carats sapphires, and the Rivage cuff, a swirling confection of white gold, diamonds and sapphires.

Toni Garrn

Toni Garrn was perfectly party- ready in a metallic Elie Saab minidress, strappy Guiseppi Zanotti heels and Piaget jewels.

Sasha Luss

Sasha Luss stunned in an embellished gown by Balmain.

Katy Perry

I actually appreciated the drama of Katy Perry at this event, with her Marchesa gown looking as if it were made of rose petals and her styling on point. Sleek hair and makeup paired with gorgeous Harry Winston jewels were a perfect combo.

Milla Jovovich

I loved Milla Jovovich’s sparkly Elie Saab gown. How eye- catching!

Karlie Kloss

Karlie Kloss stunned in a floral- embellished Marchesa gown, sparkly Guiseppi Zanotti heels, a crystallized Juidith Lieber clutch and Chopard jewels.

Jourdan Dunn

Jourdan Dunn kept things simple and stylish in this ruffled Dsquared2 gown.

Barbara Palvin

Barbara Palvin stunned in this ruffled Armani Privé gown.

Soo Joo Park

Soo Joo Park stunned in a Chenel Haute Coutre gown with glimmeing diamonds by Chanel Haute Joaillerie.

Hanne Gaby Odile

I loved Hanne Gaby Odiele’s crystal- embellished Miu Miu gown with it’s a beautiful colour and perfect fall of the skirt.

Bella Heathcote

Bella Heathcote’s graphic Armani Privé gown was gorgeous, and perfectly accessorized with Guiseppi Zanotti shoes, a simple Jimmy Choo clutch and Bulgari jewels.

Isabel Goulart

Izabel Goulart’s embellished Zuhair Murad gown was perfectly paired with statement Di Grisogono earrings.

Fabulous Fashion at Cannes 2016

The official poster of the 68th Cannes Film festival, featuring a featuring a still from Jean-Luc Godard’s 1963 film Contempt, with Michel Piccoli ascending the Casa Malaparte. Image CANNES FILM FESTIVAL

The annual fabulous-ness that is the Festival de Cannes has just wrapped up and as always, this year’s event was filled with beautiful red carpet and formal party style. This year’s attendees stepped out in such style and numbers that I think I’ll publish two style posts to properly cover the rundown of great looks.

So without further ado, here are some of the best ensembles seen at Cannes 2016!

All images via GETTY IMAGES/APC/POPSUGAR/TOM AND LORENZO/INSTAGRAM.

Araya Hargate

Let’s start things off with a lady who slayed practically every time she appeared on the Red Carpet:

Araya Hargate stunned from the get go when she attended the Café Society premiere in a dramatic ruffled Ralph & Russo Haute Couture gown and dazzling Chopard jewels.

This Chopard necklace is a highly detailed confection of incredibly rare conch pearls, white diamonds and white gold, it was one of the best pieces of jewelry seen on the Red Carpet during the entire event.

Ms. Hargate was also breathtaking at Le BFG (Le Bon Gros Géan) premiere in this celadon printed Zuhair Murad organza gown with Chopard jewels.

This Jean Paul Gaultier Haute Couture gown was my favourite look. It was worn to the Mal de Pierres (From the Land of the Moon) premiere. How absurd and fabulous- classic JPG- and I absolutely love it! As always, her jewels were by Chopard.

Elle Fanning

Elle Fanning made a dramatic entrance at The Neon Demon premiere in this embellished Zuhair Murad Haute Couture gown and Tiffany and Co. jewels from their Blue Book collection (the really good stuff). She’s been sticking to the “princess look” for the past few years (especially since she played a Disney Princess), but it’s a look that suits her well as she has both the height and bearing to pull off frothy skirts and corseted silhouettes without being overwhelmed. This is one of her better choices and she looks great.

Li BingBing

Another solid look from Café Society was Li Bingbing’s gorgeously graphic gown by Stéphane Rolland Haute Couture.

Eva Herzigová

I love this lady! She rocked The Unknown Girl premiere in custom head-to-toe Dior with Chopard jewels.

Kristen Stewart

Kristen Stewarts look for the Café Society premiere was straight off the runway Chanel Resort 2017, which she accessorized with sleek hair and spiky Christian Louboutin sandals (which she wore at least twice more during the festival. Love that too). There were many criticisms of her look (particularly since she didn’t wear a bra under that sheer shirt) but I think she looks so chic.

Her lookPersonal Shopper was what I really loved: a feathered Chanel minidress, strappy Christian Louboutin heels and layers of Messika diamond jewelry. She has a on pair of damn wings and it’s absolutely fabulous!

Bella Hadid

Bella Hadid stunned at Café Society premiere in this custom Roberto Cavalli column gown and diamond jewelry by DiGrisogono and Florinda…

…However she really stole the show at The Unknown Girl premiere in this sultry Alexandre Vauthier Haute Couture gown. Unsurprisingly this was one of the most-talked about outfits to grace the red carpet at Cannes this year and for good reason- she looks fantastic!

Toni Garrn

Toni Garrn stunned in Ulyana Sergeenko and Boucheron diamonds at the Loving premiere.

Jessica Chastain

Jessica Chastain set the tone for fabulous fashion at the Café Society premiere when she arrived in this bright yellow Armani Privé gown and glimmering Piaget jewels.

Her sheer embellished Alexander McQueen gown was another scene stealer, she wore this gorgeous look to the Money Monster premiere.

Julie Dietze

Julie Dietze’s shimmering Guido Maria Kretschmer column gown was a simple and chic addition to the Loving lineup.

Bianca Balti

This was the simplest outfit to be worn to a Cannes premiere this year, but Bianca Balti looked incredibly chic at the Julieta opening in this sheer gown by The Row.

Petra Nemcova

Petra Nemcova stunned in this dramatic Georges Chakra gown and Chopard jewels at the Mal de Pierres opening. I wish her bag wasn’t so big though, it could have worked had it been black.

She also looked great at Julietta in this silver SAFiYAA Koyone lamé gown. I was quite iffy about this look when I saw it in print, but seeing it on video was fabulous, she definitely slayed.

Naomi Watts

I’m shocked that this gown is by Micheal Kors, and I’m even more shocked by how much I like it. Naomi Watts looked incredible at the Money Monster premiere in this glimmering sheaf, gorgeous Bulgari jewels completed her look perfectly.

Bérénice Bejo

Bérénice Bejo looked gorgeous at Le BFG in this pailette- encrusted Valentino gown, Prada accessories and Chaumet jewels.

Kate Moss

Madame Kate turned heads at Loving in this vintage Halston gown and Chopard jewels. 2016 marked her first Cannes attendance in fifteen years and she certainly made an entrance!

Milla Jovovich

Milla Jovovich looked lovely in Miu Miu at The Last Face premiere.

Lily- Rose Depp

Love. Love. Love. Lily- Rose Depp wore head- to- toe Chanel to La Danseuse, by far one of my favourite looks.

Kristen Dunst

This is very pretty: Kristen Dunst wore lilac Dior to the Loving premiere.

She also looked great at The Neon Demon in custom Maison Margeila. The messy neckline is a bit of a quibble, but it’s Margiela so it’s expected that there would be something off.

Ulyana Sergeenko

The designer understandably wore her own garments to Le BFG, and she looks good.

Bella Heathcote

I loved this look: Armani Privé provided this frothy frock for Bella’s Neon Demon apperence, she accessorized with Miu Miu shoes, a Tod’s bag and Messika jewels. That colour looks great on her.

Sonam Kapoor

[caption width="662" align="alignnone"] Sonam’s gowns were more eyecatching last year, but this caped Ralph & Russo Haute Couture piece was a definite scene stealer at the Loving premiere. Her gorgeous necklace is by Bulgari.

Lena Meyer- Landrut

The gorgeous singer turned heads in custom Yves Saint Laurent at Loving.

Miss Fame

Bow down people: Miss Fame worked Le BFG‘s red carpet like no other in custom Zac Posen and spikey Manolos. Yaas.

Svetlana Khodchenkova

Svetlana Khodchenkova cut a brilliant figure at Le BFG in this electric blue Georges Hobieka and Bulgari jewels.

Aishwarya Rai Bachan Proving why she’s a Cannes mainstay and overall exotic goddess.

Ms. Rai Bachan graced the Slack Bay premiere in this shimmering Ali Younes Couture gown. I’m a sucker for anything with a cape (especially a glittery cape), so I adore this.

She also stunned at Le BFG in Elie Saab Haute Couture and Boucheron jewels.

Ming Xi

Ming Xi looked fab at The Unknown Girl in Zuhair Murad and Di Grisogono jewels.

Juliette Binoche

Another great look from the Slack Bay showing was Juliette Binoche’s sleek Armani Privé gown and Chopard gems.

Isabeli Fontana

This beauty stunned at The Unknown girl in custom Brandon Maxwell.

Adèle Exarchopoulos

This is the best she’s looked in a while, she wore custom Louis Vuitton to The Last Face premiere

Heike Makatsch

A pretty look from the Mal de Pierres red carpet was Heike Makatsch’s pale pink Kavier Gauche jumpsuit. Sabrina Dehoff earrings finished the look perfectly.

Emilia Schuele

I love this leather corset, it reminds me of vintage Thierry Mugler. Emilia Schuele wore this custom Marina Hoermanseder gown to the Café Society premiere.

Aymeline Valade

It’s a bit messy, but this Dior dress suits Aymeline Valade’s personality quite well, she wore it to the premiere of The Last Face

Daris Strokous

Daria Strokous stunned at the Loving premiere in this beaded Zuhair Murad Haute Couture gown. I love the colour.

Sophie Valkiers

Sophie Valikers wore this custom Georges Hobeika gown to The Strangers premiere.

Julia Roberts

Julia Roberts wore a custom Givenchy gown and gorgeous Chopard jewels to the Money Monster premiere. She looks good.

Barbara Meier

Barbara Meier opted for this bold Alexander McQueen suit for the Julieta premiere and I love it!

And finally, Soko (birthname: Stéphanie Sokolinski), whose appearence at the photocall for La Danseuse was a lesson in Red Carpet slayage.

Soko working it in Chanel.

Notice her shoes, she worked it up and down the carpet and those famous steps in those towering platform heels and did not once remove her shoes. Julia, Kristen, take note.

YAAASSS!

MET Gala 2016

I can’t believe that it’s been over a week since the 2016 MET Gala and I’m just posting about it! My apologies… and let’s get straight into the fashion!

Over 80000 red roses were sculpted into the shape of a double helix by designer Raúl Àvila to create this massive decoration that hung over the Information Desk at the Museum’s Great Hall. Image VOGUE.COM/KEVIN TACHMAN

‘Manus (e)X Machina: Fashion in the Age of Technology’ is the theme of the Costume Institute’s 2016 Spring exhibit which explores how designers are incorporating the use of new technology and materials in the construction of both haute couture and prêt-à-porter garments. The exhibit showcases examples from some of the most breathtaking works of garment art in existence- from Christian Dior’s famed plastic and silk gowns from his stunning 1949 Fall collection to Issey Miyaki’s iconic 1984 “Flying Saucer” dress. The show highlights some of the examples of what happens when traditional craftsmanship techniques meet with new materials and procedures. It explores the ongoing relationship of man and machine, and examines significance of the long- held distinction between haute couture and ready-to-wear from the perspective of the crafts employed in the making of both.

This Chanel Haute Couture wedding dress is the centerpiece of the exhibition, shown here on display in the museum. It boast a 12 ft train that took 450 hours to complete. Image VOGUE.COM/ERIC BOMAN

As always, the exhibition provides the Gala’s dress code, with attendees encouraged to convey the theme of the exhibit through their outfits. This, however, is rarely done. Few people (re: Rihanna, Fan Bing Bing, Bee Shaffer) actually ever dress appropriately- or understand the theme enough- to make the effort to play along with it. This problem was never more apparent than it was this year, since most attendees took the idea of “Fahion in the Age of Technology” as permission to dress like robots or as characters in some sort of low budget post- apocolyptic punk movie (most of the Louis Vuitton crew). There was no ingenuity or drama, nothing that referenced the incredible craftsmanship of the exhibition or even highlighted the work of some of the great designers on display. There was no Issey Miyaki, Junya Watanabe, Hussein Chalayan or Iris van Herpen to be seen anywhere on the red carpet, and I’m absolutely shocked that so many attendees chose to ignore these incredibly avant- garde designers in lieu of sparkly dresses and silver- dyed hair. LADY GAGA, THIS WAS YOUR YEAR! Why ignore it?

But, theme snubs aside, there were some attendees who looked downright incredible. These are my favourite looks of the night.

Claire Danes

The fabric of Claire Danes’ Zac Posen gown was infused with microscopic fibre- optic cables so that it glowed and shimmered in the dark. It may be an exact replica of that deep blue silk gown from his Resort 2015 collection (RIhanna wore it to the Diamond Ball in 2014), but that was a gorgeous gown and this one was even more so. It was guaranteed to be one of the most talked- about looks of the night! Image GETTY IMAGES/ZAC POSEN/INSTAGRAM

Poppy Delevingne

Poppy Delegvigne was the most bejewelled person on the red carpet, piling layers and layers of glimmering Stephen Webster jewelry over her crystal- and- bead- encrusted Marchesa gown. She owned that look and I can’t help but love it. Image VOGUE.COM

Doutzen Kroes

Doutzen Kroes’ glittery white Balmain gown was the simplest outfit supplied by the designer for the event but it was in no way less gorgeous, it was my one of favourite looks of the night (top 5 definitely). Image GETTY IMAGES

Zoe Saldana

Zoe Saldana’s gorgeously baroque Dolce & Gabbana Alta Moda gown is the stuff of dreams! The skirt is covered in hundreds of hand- applied feathers and layers of frothy tuelle- j’adore! Image GETTY IMAGES/POPSUGAR

Agyness Deyn

I’ve really missed seeing Agyness Deyn at events over the past few years since she always shows up looking great. This year was no different, as she came dressed to impress in this gorgeous indigo Kenzo gown with a trailing cape and diamond jewelry by Fernando Jorge. Image GETTY IMAGES

Naomi Watts

Naomi Watts looked like a fabulous disco ball in this sparkly floral- embellished Burberry Prorsum gown. A Rauwulf bag and Fred Leighton diamonds rounded out the look in good form. Image POPSUGAR

Bella Hadaid

I loved Bella Hadid’s voluminous Givenchy Haute Couture gown, and although I’m not a fan of those boots it was one of my favourite looks of the night. Her jewelry was by Fred Leighton. Image GETTY IMAGES

Sofia Sanchez de Betak

I loved every part of Sofia Sanchez de Betak’s Dolce & Gabbana look- from her crown to her jewel- encrusted shoes! Image GETTY IMAGES

Naomi Campbell

It’s impossible for Naomi Campbell to ever not look good- she stunned in this custom beaded Roberto Cavalli gown and futuristic jewels by William Goldberg and Verdura. Image POPSUGAR

Bee Shaffer

Bee Shaffer knows exactly what looks good on her- and Alexander McQueen has never failed to make her look amazing. Embellished Nicholas Kirkwood heels and jewelry by Fred Leighton and Macklowe Gallery were perfect accessories. Image VOGUE.COM

Fei Fei Sun

Fei Fei Sun stunned in this custom beaded Chanel Haute Couture gown. Her accessories were equally sparkly- a crystal- embellished Judith Lieber Couture clutch and diamond jewelry by Chanel Haute Joaillerie. Image IMAXTREE

Kate Bosworth

Kate Bosworth looked so good in this custom Dolce & Gabbana look. Everything- from the gown to the couture crown was gorgeously done. Image POPSUGAR

Nicole Kidman

I loved Nicole Kidman’s sheer spangled Alexander McQueen gown. She looked like a glamourous sorceress queen- especially in that gorgeous Fred Leighton tiara! Image GETTY IMAGES

Love it! Image FRED LEIGHTON/INSTAGRAM/GETTY IMAGES

Jourdan Dunn

This was my favourite Balmain look of the night. Jourdan Dunn looked incredible- I even love her silver hair. Image TOM AND LORENZO

Mackenzie Davis

This sequinned Altuzarra gown is so pretty! Mackenzie Davis shone in this silvery custom gown with a built-in cape detail and shimmering Van Cleef and Arpels diamond jewelry. Image GETTY IMAGES

Brie Larson

Brie Larson’s custom Proenza Schouler gown was my favourite metallic look of the night. I loved the ruffled skirt and black velvet detailing- it was extremely well done. Simple Niwaka Collection diamond jewelry rounded out her look perfectly. IMAGE POPSUGAR

Léa Seydoux

Leave it to Léa Seydoux to get the best Louis Vuitton look seen at the event. I really like this gown, but I absolutely love her Chopard jewelry. Image GETTY IMAGES

Zoey Deutch

Zoey Deutch turned heads in this gorgeous head- to- toe ensemble by Dolce & Gabbana. Look closely- the needlepoint rose embroidery mimics the look of a pixelated print! Image STYLE BISTRO

Emma Watson

Finally an attendee who understood the theme and dressed accordingly! Emma Watson’s custom Ralph Lauren gown was created out of recycled plastic bottles, organic cotton and organic silk, with almost the entire outfit was crafted out of eco- friendly materials. If that’s not cutting- edge fashion I don’t know what is!. The ‘ball gown- with- a- pair- of- trousers’ look might be a little bit overdone, but this was a gorgeous exception. Diamond jewelry by Paige Novak and Walters Faith provided the perfect accessories. Image VOGUE.COM

Maryna Linchuk

Maryna Linchuck’s entire look was by Topshop and I actually quite like it. I may never buy that gown, but that doesn’t mean that it doesn’t look pretty great. She sells it perfectly. Image GETTY IMAGES

Cindy Crawford

I really loved Cindy Crawford’s metallic Balmain gown. She was among the hottest of the night. Image GETTY IMAGES

Gigi Hadid

Gigi Hadid’s metallic teal bustier gown was a custom creation by Tommy Hilfiger (gasp!). I liked the look but admittedly I would have preferred it had the skirt not been so sheer… but if there ever was an event where you could get away with showing your sparkly undergarments it would have been this one. Her robotic- themed jewelry was by Lynn Ban. Image AP

Elizabeth Debicki

Elizabeth Debicki’s floral Prada gown was an unusual occurrence with this Gala, but I kind of loved her look. The quirky print and detailing perfectly suit her sense of style and she looks lovely in that shade of green. I particularly liked her floral Buglari clip earrings. Image GETTY IMAGES

Karlie Kloss

Karlie Kloss’ transforming Brandon Maxwell gown was one of the highlights of the night. With pull- away panels and a detachable capelet, her gown transformed from gala fare to into an after- party dress in minutes. Simple hair, makeup and understated Lisa Perry jewels completed her look perfectly. Image GETTY/ STYLE BISTRO

Joan Smalls

Joan Smalls sparkled from head- to- toe in this crystal- studded Balmain gown. Image IMAGETREE

Uma Thurman

Uma Thurman looked gorgeously elegant in this ivory Tommy Hilfiger (double gasp!) gown, Cartier vintage jewels and Jimmy Choo accessories. I love it! Image GETTY IMAGES

Let’s get a closer look at that brooch:

It’s got over 83 carats of diamonds. I’m in love! Image GETTY IMAGES

Kendall Jenner

I’m quoting two divas when I say that Kendall Jenner served up a 21st century edition of Cher- in- Bob- Mackie realness in this sparkly sheer net and lurex Atelier Versace gown and layers of Lorraine Schwartz diamond jewelry. It’s a look that works very well for her- she looked great. Image GETTY IMAGES/POPSUGAR

Lily Collins

Lily Collins went for the Grecian goddess look in this crimson gown by Valentino Haute Couture and elegant Tiffany and Co. jewels. Image GETTY IMAGES

Rachel McAdams

I’ve loved this Valentino Haute Couture gown from the moment it appeared on the runway in their Spring 2015 show, so I was bound to like seeing it when it finally appeared at an event. Rachel McAdams styled it simply with H. Stern jewels and minimalist hair and makeup, but I felt that she could have elevated the look with a neater hairstyle. Image POPSUGAR

Naomie Harris

Naomie Harris’ custom Burberry Prorsum gown, with it’s swirling metallic mosaic pattern, was one of the more orginial looks on the red carpet, but it was a gorgeous addition. Glittering Messika jewels and Christian Louboutin accessories perfectly completed her look. Image TOM AND LORENZO

Rosie Huntington- Whiteley

Rosie Huntington- Whiteley channeled old- Hollywood glamour in head- to- toe Ralph Lauren. Another who could practically shine in anything, she was elegant and lovely as ever. Image POPSUGAR

Liberty Ross

Liberty Ross’ look was entirely on point! Her gown was vintage John Galliano and she accessorized perfectly with David Webb jewels and a veiled headpiece by Stephen Jones Millinery. Image GETTY IMAGES

Olivia Wilde

I’m shocked that I actually like a seventies- inspired Micheal Kors gown, but it looks great on her and the sequin and grommet combination is actually really appropriate for a technology- themed fashion gala. Simple Jennifer Fisher jewelry and sleek hair and makeup rounded out her look. Image GETTY IMAGES

Best Looks of the Screen Actor’s Guild Awards 2016

The logo of the 22nd Annual Screen Actors Guild Awards. Image SAG-AFTRA

The 22nd Annual Screen Actors Guild Awards took place on January 30th 2016 at the Shrine Auditorium in Los Angeles, California. The ceremony honours the most outstanding achievements in film and television for the year, as judged by members of the Screen Actors Guild of America. It’s one of the final major award ceremonies before the Academy Awards (which is later this month) and as such, it’s considered by attendees as something of a dress rehearsal for the main event.

The Screen Actor’s Guild Awards always boasts an impressive guest list of stars and is seen as one of the swankiest events on the Awards Season schedule. Therefore, most of the stars turn up turned out to the nines! THIS is one of the red carpets on which to find some truly spectacular Red Carpet looks.

This year’s carpet hosted some truly beautiful ensembles, and there were others that stood out for good reason. Here are my pics for the best looks of the night!

Rachel McAdams

Rachel McAdam was lovely in this sheer Elie Saab Haute Couture gown with a full ball skirt, Brian Atwood pumps and diamonds by Harry Kotlar and Le Vian. The sheer gown has become pretty much a basic red carpet look, but this is an example of the trend done right. The key to success is lining. It makes all the difference between looking interesting and looking like a mess. Image GETTY IMAGES/POPSUGAR

Laura Prepon

I love how incredibly polished Laura Prepon looked in this Carmen Marc Valvo gown with Stephen Webster accessories and Forevermark diamonds. Very ladylike and pretty! Image GETTY IMAGES

Viola Davis

Everything about Viola Davis’ look was great! The cut and colour of this Zac Posen gown were incredibly flattering, even with the highly structural necklace and bodice, her styling and her simple Bucaletti jewelry only enhanced the effortlessly glamorous feeling of the overall look. Beautifully done! Image REX

Helen Mirren

Helen Mirren is seventy. Let that sink in as you admire how flawlessly she pulls off this sparkling, sequin and crystal-encrusted Jenny Packham gown and some equally glittery Chopard jewelry. She looks absolutely stunning! Image GETTY IMAGES

Sophie Turner

Sophie Turner looked phenomenal in this textured silk Carolina Herrera gown, Jimmy Choo shoes and Chanel Haute Joaillerie diamonds. Image GETTY IMAGES/POPSUGAR

Maisie Williams

Maisie Williams looked gorgeous in this bright blue tea -length Ermanno Scervino gown. She completed her look with glittery Nicholas Kirkwood shoes, a Jimmy Choo clutch and jewelry by Rugembon and Buja Fine Jewellery. Image GETTY IMAGES

Laverne Cox

The definition of WERQ: Laverne Cox in Prabal Gurung. I’m not a huge fan of the gown, but she looks incredible and that shade of burgundy is gorgeous on her. She completed her look with strappy Stuart Weitzman sandals, a Nathalie Trad clutch and Lorraine Schwartz jewelry. Image THE INDEPENDANT/POPSUGAR/GETTY IMAGES

Jessica Paré

Jessica Paré kept things simple but stunning in a gorgeous Kaufmanfranco gown, Jimmy Choo heels and Tiffany & Co. jewelry. Slick hair and simple makeup complete the look perfectly. Image POPSUGAR/GETTY IMAGES

Alicia Vikander

Alicia Vikander’s head- to- toe Louis Vuitton look was intriguing. On almost anyone else I’d not like it, but a patchwork pattern gown fits her quirky dress sense and she looks great in it. Image GETTY IMAGES

Carol Burnett

You can spot a Bob Mackie design from a mile away. Carol Burnett was one of the designer’s notable clients, wearing his pieces both on and off screen. As the recipient of this year’s Lifetime Achievement Award, it’s fitting that she wore a designer who was present at many points throughout her career. Design wise, her outfit is perfectly fitted, stylish, photogenic, and it would appear, comfortable. I can’t critique anything about it, and that colour looks fantastic on her. Image GETTY IMAGES

Anna Faris

Anna Faris looked incredible in this satin Naeem Khan gown, Stuart Weitzman heels, Tyler Alexandro Roland clutch and Norman Silverman jewels. STYLE BISTRO/GETTY IMAGES

Rooney Mara

I liked Rooney Mara’s Valentino Haute Couture gown both with and without the cape. It’s such a simple look that she could easily play with bolder accessories or beauty trends, but since she opted only for some diamond Fred Leighton rings, a slick bun and natural makeup, it came off quite severe. Lily Rabe

The print and colour of Lily Rabe’s Lela Rose gown came off a little casual for the event but her accessories, Stuart Weitzman shoes, a Lee Savage clutch and Lorraine Schwartz jewels, saved her from looking under dressed. Image POPSUGAR/GETTY IMAGES

Kristen Wiig

I like that Kristen Wiig opted for trousers for the event and this embellished Roland Mouret jumpsuit fits her quirky personality. She looks fab! Miu Miu sandals, a metallic Jimmy Choo bag and Niwaka Collections diamond jewelry completed the look. Image GETTY IMAGES

Carrie Brownstien

Carrie Brownstien was simple and elegant in a textured silver Akris dress, Jimmy Choo shoes and Jennifer Meyer jewelry. Image GETTY IMAGES

Emilia Clarke

Emilia Clarke was a vision in hot pink in head- to- toe Dior Haute Couture. Image GETTY IMAGES

Kiernan Shipka

Kiernan Shipka was lovely in an Erdem gown, Charlotte Olympia shoes and jewelry by Irene Neuworth and Dana Rebecca. Image GETTY IMAGES/POPSUGAR

Christina Ricci

There was a hint of an ice-skating costume around the bodice of Christina Ricci’s Christopher Kane gown, but it’s so pretty that I can overlook that detail. Her jewelry is flawless- it’s vintage Fred Leighton. Image GETTY IMAGES

Amanda Peet

Amanda Peet was stunning in this Narciso Rodriguez gown, Gianvito Rossi shoes and Marc Jacobs jewelry. I love this look! Image GETTY IMAGES/STYLE BISTRO

Elizabeth Rodriguez

Elizabeth Rodriguez exuded Old Hollywood glamour in this John Paul Ataker gown and Forevermark jewels. Image GETTY IMAGES

Sophie McShera

Sophie McShera looked lovely in this Escada gown, LK Bennett shoes and Stephen Webster jewelry. Pink was the hot colour of this show, and Sophie’s gown was the prettiest one on the Red Carpet. Image GETTY IMAGES

Marisa Tomei

I found Marisa Tomei’s embellished Zuhair Murad gown to be a little heavy for her frame, but there’s no denying that she looks gorgeous. Christian Louboutin accessories and jewels by Sethi Couture and Beladora Jewelry rounded out her look beautifully. Image GETTY IMAGES/POPSUGER

Brie Larson

Brie Larson is perhaps the only woman other than Rosie, Candice or Doutzen who can wear this Atelier Versace gown and make it look good. It fits her figure perfectly and manages to be incredibly flattering on her, despite the bulky ruching and the odd cutout. Brie smartly left the accessories and styling simple with metallic Roger Vivier sandals, dainty Tiffany & Co. jewels and natural makeup. Image GETTY IMAGES

Diane Lane

Diane Lane looked like a modern goddess in this deep blue Angel Sanchez gown, LK Bennet heels, a metallic Harry Kotlar clutch and Vhernier jewelry. Love the colour! Image GETTY IMAGES/STYLE BISTRO

Emily Robinson

Emily Robinson’s flounced Antinio Grimaldi gown was one of the highlights on the Red Carpet. It reminds me of vintage Balenciaga, and was perfectly styled with Jerome Crousseau shoes, a Farod Barsum clutch and H. Stern jewels. Image POPSUGAR/STYLE BISTRO/GETTY IMAGES

Ariel Winter

There’s no denying that Ariel Winter looked gorgeous in this form- fitting Romona Keveza gown, but a neckline like that called for more jewelry than a small pair of Atelier Swarovski earrings. Image GETTY IMAGES

Samira Wiley

Samira Wiley kept things simple in this gorgeous Christian Siriano gown, Renè Caovilla shoes and emerald jewelry by Ippolitta. It’s a clean, glamourous look and she looks amazing! Image GETTY IMAGES

Christina Hendricks

Another stuner who wore Christian Siriano to this event was Christina Hendricks, who went all out with the Marilyn Monroe-esque dressing and opted for a highly sculptural vintage- inspired design. It’s testament to Mr. Siriano’s abilities as a designer to be able to construct this gown entirely out of reflective lace- patterned lamé and make it not look heavy, ungainly, or overworked. Though a hard look for anyone to pull off, it’s right up Ms. Hendrick’s alley and she looks great in it. Simple jewelry by Butani and Coomis Jewelry rounded out the look. Image GETTY IMAGES

Best Looks of the Critics’ Choice Awards 2016

The logo of the 2016 Critics’ Choice Awards 2016. Image BFCA/A&E NETWORKS

The 21st Annual Critics’ Choice Awards took place on January 17th, 2016 at the Santa Monica Airport’s Barker Hangar in Santa Monica, California, with stars of both the small and large screens assembling to honor the finest achievements in 2015 film making.

Falling between the ultra-glamourous Golden Globe Awards and the Screen Actors Guild Awards, the Critics’ Choice Awards generally has a much more laid-back vibe. It’s by far one of the more casual events on the Awards Season calendar, with attendees dressed more for a fancy party than for the the formal affairs of other award shows. That doesn’t mean that the stars disappoint when it comes to their Red (Blue in this case) Carpet outfits though!

Here are my favorite looks of the night!

Kate Beckensale

Kate Beckinsale looked absolutely divine in this gorgeous Monique Lhullier gown, which was flawlessly paired with Guiseppi Zanotti heels, a Kotur bag and Butani jewels. Image REX

Helen Mirren

I’ll admit bias- Dame Helen Mirren would have to wear something really hideous for me to hate on her red carpet style. She knows what looks good on her and works this knowledge to the nth degree. This printed chiffon Dolce & Gabbana gown with dainty Kwiat jewels was perfection! Image REX/SHUTTERSTOCK

Kristen Ritter

This sparkling Zuhair Murad Haute Couture gown looked perfect on Kristen Ritter. The colour was gorgeous and her accessorizing was on point. She paired her gown with Stuart Weitzman shoes, a metallic Jimmy Choo clutch and H. Stern jewels. Image WIREIMAGE

Yael Grobglas

I love the simplicity of Yael Grobglas’ look. Everything about it was properly done. From her understated Black Halo Eve gown and delicate Bulgari jewelry to her sleek hair and makeup, this was a perfectly orchestrated look. Image REX/STYLE BISTRO

Rosie Huntington-Whiteley

The asymmetrical neckline bothered me, but there’s no denying that Rosie Huntington-Whiteley’s head-to-toe Yves Saint Laurent look one of the highlights of the night. Image GETTY IMAGES

Kirsten Dunst

I kind of preferred this layered Chanel Haute Couture dress as it appeared on the runway on a model with more vibrant natural colouring than Ms. Dunst- the silver and cream of the gown washed her out completely. Besides that, she looks really great- it’s a beautiful gown and it fits her body and personal style. She accessorized it well with satin Roger Vivier pumps and gorgeous Fred Leighton jewels. Image GETTY IMAGES

Bryce Dallas-Howard

Bryce Dallas-Howard has been looking particularly lovely this awards season, and this sexy Balmain dress was no exception. It fit her like a glove and looked perfect when paired with Edie Parker accessories and Jacob & Co. jewels. Image REX

Helen McCrory

Helen McCrory’s eye catching Burberry Prorsum look was one of the highlights of the night. I love that colour! Image GETTY IMAGES/STYLE BISTRO

Tracee Ellis Ross

Tracee Ellis Ross is one woman who could make anything look incredible. Her Randi Rahm gown is so-so at best, but her natural poise, bearing and beauty make it an outstanding look. She chose accessories by Sophia Webster and Rauwolf and some gorgeous Neil Lane jewels. Image GETTY IMAGES

Judith Light

Many people hated Judith Light’s Zac Posen ensemble, but I think she looks quite good. She’s working the hell out of it and it’s obvious that she loves what she’s wearing. Her handcarved Nina Runsdorf jade, emerald and diamond earrings were standouts. Image REX/WIREIMAGE

Abbey Lee Kershaw

Proof that a model can make almost anything look good, I kind of like Abbey Lee Kershaw’s bizarre ruffled fishnet Balmain gown. Yes, the look is crazy, but it actually works! Especially since she kept her styling simple with sleek hair, natural makeup and understated jewels by Hoorsenbuhs and Sylvia & Cie. Image GETTY IMAGES

Zoë Kravitz

Leave it to Zoë Kravitz to wear something daring to an award’s show. Her Dior Couture separates were a welcome pop of colour to an event otherwise dominated by neutrals. I love the colour and cut of the garments, but I’d prefer the look more if the top wasn’t so shiny. I absolutely adore her Dior diamond jewelry and rhinestone studded Sophia Webster sandals. Image REX

Leslie Mann

This was one of the prettiest looks of the night- Leslie Mann looked fabulous in this ombré beaded Monique Lhullier gown, Christian Louboutin heels and Borgioni jewels. Image GETTY IMAGES

Carrie Keagan

This is actually a very well done look! Carrie Keagan’s bright Fouad Sarkis Couture gown was set off perfectly by some stunning Coomis jewelry, and was further enhanced by her effortlessly glamourous hair and makeup. Image REX

Portia Doubleday

If a sheer dress had to make it onto an award show carpet, I’m happy it’s an interesting one- this Novis number’s bright embroidery saved the outfit from looking too plain. Portia Doubleday completed her look with a deep blue Farod Barum bag, but she could have elevated it greatly by adding some jewelry and toning down the severity of her hair. Image REX

Lily Rabe

The cutout is a little odd, but I quite liked Lily Rabe’s sequinned Marc Bauer column gown. Image GETTY IMAGES

Courtney Eaton

I’ve seen her on the red carpet a few times before and I can’t help but wonder if she’s trying to look fierce by keeping her face locked in that permanent expression. I mean, if I were at an awards ceremony dressed in head-to-toe Valentino I’d be smiling like there was no tomorrow. She looks good, but her expression annoyed me to no end. Image GETTY IMAGES/THE FASHION SPOT

Alicia Vikander

Alicia Vikander’s patterned Mary Katrantzou gown is a bit odd, but it suits her and she looks fabulous. I’m glad to see her wearing something other than Louis Vuitton to an event (she’s a brand ambassador) and this is a nice change. Her jewelry is Vuitton and it’s gorgeous, and as a jewelry lover I can’t think of a better way to represent the brand! Image GETTY IMAGES

Constance Zimmer

Kudos to Constance Zimmer for wearing graphic stripes on the Red Carpet- this Tracey Reese dress looks great on her! The styling is really on point too, with understated Loriblu pumps, a Kotur bag, and Nigaam jewels rounding out the look perfectly. Image REX

Jean Smart

I really hate the sleeves on this Marc Duggal gown, but overall, Jean Smart looks fab. I particularly adore her jewelry, especially that fabulous L’Dezen ruby and diamond ring. Image REX

I mean, LOOK AT IT! J’adore! Image GETTY IMAGES/TOM AND LORENZO/L’ DEZEN BY PAYAL SHAH IMSTAGRAM

Marisa Tomei

I ‘m shocked that I like this look so much, but Marisa Tomei is quirky so it works on her. This short, brightly patterned Zuhair Murad dress would have been overwhelming if she’d been styled differently, but worn here, with understated accessories by Tamara Mellon and Tyler Alexandro, and simple Niwaka Collections jewelry, it looked absolutely fab!
